Nordea Open is proud to announce Andrey Rublev as the first confirmed player for this summer’s ATP tournament in Båstad. Rublev, who lifted the trophy in 2023, will return to Båstad as a former champion and one of the most established players on the ATP Tour.
Over the past seasons, Rublev has firmly positioned himself among the world’s elite, combining consistent results with a strong presence on the sport’s biggest stages. His career highlights include 17 ATP Tour titles, a career-high ranking of World No. 5, and qualification for the ATP Finals on five occasions, underlining his sustained performance at the highest level.
Beyond his achievements on court, Rublev has received growing international recognition for his work off the court. In 2025, he was honoured with the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award, one of the most prestigious distinctions on the ATP Tour. The award recognises players who have made a meaningful impact beyond tennis and reflects values such as integrity, responsibility and compassion – qualities long associated with Arthur Ashe’s legacy.
Rublev founded the Andrey Rublev Foundation in 2024 with the aim of supporting children facing serious illness. Throughout the 2025 season, his humanitarian efforts expanded through international collaborations, hospital visits and direct engagement with children, families and medical staff. Rublev has also been open about the importance of mental health and the value of seeking help, using his platform to encourage open dialogue within and beyond the tennis community.
In addition to his humanitarian work, Rublev was elected to the ATP Player Advisory Council ahead of the 2026 season, representing players ranked inside the world’s top 50 in singles. The Council, elected by the players themselves, plays an important role in shaping dialogue between players, ATP Management and the ATP Board.
– “One of the most charismatic players on the tour. He has qualified for the ATP Finals no fewer than five times, which says a lot about his consistency at the highest level,” says Magnus Norman, Tournament Director of the Nordea Open.
Rublev’s return to Båstad adds further prestige to the Nordea Open, reaffirming the tournament’s position as a key stop on the ATP Tour and a destination for world-class tennis during the Scandinavian summer.
