THE ARENA

BÅSTAD TENNISSTADION

History: Båstad Tennis Stadium was founded by Ludwig Nobel, nephew of Alfred Nobel who built a tennis court in 1907 where we today find today’s Center Court. The Tennis Stadium together with Hotel Skansen underwent an extensive renovation from 2001 to 2007 and is today one of Europe’s most beautiful facilities.

Competitions: In 1925, Båstad hosted the Swedish tennis championship. King Gustav V (Mr G) both visited and played tennis in Båstad for many years and the Swedish Open has been played here since 1948. The ATP competition is one of the Tour’s oldest competitions.

The arena: Båstad Tennis Stadium is the Nordic region’s largest outdoor arena for tennis with 4300 seated guests at Center Court plus 1500 seats on Court 1. The arena is integrated with a first-class hotel with 172 rooms, conference facility for up to 500 people, award-winning restaurant, cold bath and Spa with Rooftop pool and bar.
