The first day of the Nordea Open 2023 saw 7 first round matches being played.
Top seed Emma Navarro, of the USA, played confident and smart and comfortably 6-3 6-2 against Kudermetova.
17-year old Bella Bergkvist Larsson of Sweden had the tough task of playing two time Båstad champion Polona Hercog on center court. The young Swede played a really good match but former world No 35 Hercog held a steady pace winning 6-2 6-2.
American Louisa Chirico started her match against Malene Helgö, of Norway, showing no mercy claiming the first set 6-1. She continued to a comfortable lead in the second set before Helgö played some incredible tennis striking some magnificent returns pushing Chirico in the end of the set. Helgö didn’t quite reach all the way as Chirico won 6-1 6-4.
Other winners includes another American in Claire Liu who defeated Oana Gavrila of Roumania.
