Jozef Kovalik and Filip Misolic, qualified on Monday for the main draw and were already on Tuesday against new opposition in the first round.
The Slovak Kovalik was pitted against the seventh-seeded Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the first round and right from the start of the match it was noticeable that the Spaniard had a tough day on the clay.
The Spaniard dropped to 2-5 in the second set but then turned it around to 4-5. Kovalik was than able to serve home the match 6-3 6-4.
Misolic, from Austria, was in turn pitted against Serbian Dusan Lajovic where it was a very even match with both sets going to a tiebreak in the Austrian’s favor 7-6⁴ 7-6⁴
