Fifth-seeded Mayar Sherif continues to impress. After defeating Varvara Lepchenko on Wednesday, she faced the tournament’s biggest surprise so far—Latvia’s Darja Semenistaja, who had previously knocked out French Open semifinalist Lois Boisson.

Sherif started the match strongly, quickly taking control and winning the first set convincingly, 6–3. Semenistaja responded well in the second set, raising her level to win it by the same scoreline, 6–3. But in the decisive third set, Sherif once again showed her class and composure, sealing the victory with another 6–3 set.

Mayar Sherif is now through to the semifinals, where she will meet Katarzyna Kawa. Friday’s third match on Centre Court will feature tournament favorite Lucia Bronzetti against Antonia Ruzic.
