Tuesday recap – Wednesday forecast

We look back on an action-packed Tuesday with matches across the entire arena area. On the center court, three Swedish players competed, but unfortunately, none of the home favorites advanced to the second round. The closest was Caijsa Hennemann, who almost managed to upset the top-seeded Frenchwoman Diane Parry. Hennemann had a clear victory in the first set and played impressively. The second set was decided by a close tiebreak, where the margins favored Parry, who also won a tight third set to advance. It was a tough loss!

Nellie Taraba Wallberg and Mirjam Björklund also showcased their talents to the home crowd but lost in straight sets. However, there was at least one Swedish success. In doubles, Nellie and her partner Linea Bajraliu won convincingly and are now through to the quarterfinals, set to play on Thursday.

Today, Wednesday, we have another full day of tennis with all four top-seeded players in action. First up on center court is the tournament favorite, Diane Parry, followed by matches across all four courts. The first match on Court 1 features Italy’s Martina Trevisan against Romania’s Miriam Bulgaru. Trevisan is the most accomplished player in the field, including a recent semifinal appearance at the French Open, making her a must-watch clay court specialist.

Following her, Parrizas Diaz, the only player in the field who has previously won the Nordea Open (in 2021), will play. It remains to be seen if she can repeat her past success.

For those wanting to see Swedish tennis, Caijsa Hennemann and Lisa Zaar will face the Corley sisters from the USA. This is the last of three matches on Court 1.

Please note that bags are prohibited in the event area, so we advise you to leave your bag at home but bring your best tennis spirit to cheer our players to new successes.

Welcome to the Nordea Open!
