Swedish tennis fans will once again see Rebecca Peterson play on home soil when she and Sweden’s number one Mirjam Björklund are each awarded a Wild Card to the Nordea Open WTA this summer.

– Rebecca has been our leading star on the women’s tour for several years. There have been two titles in singles and a highest ranking of 43. Has suffered several injuries during the year and not being able to play at the level she wants. We know that an injury-free Rebecca could fight for the title in Båstad, says Tournament Director Sofia Arvidsson.

Even though the players have participated in Båstad for several years, these two players have not yet met each other in a competition context, that may change in this year’s edition.

– Mirjam has been in the top 100 once a year but had to take an injury break after qualifying for the US Open last year. There lives a high top level in Mirjam who has beaten top-30 players.Mirjam loves playing in Båstad and if she is only at her peak physically, she can threaten everyone in the starting field, Sofia Arvidsson continues.
