Tuesday’s first match on Centre Court was a postponed clash from Monday, following heavy rainfall that made play impossible. The match featured Austria’s Filip Misolic against Denmark’s Elmer Møller. Møller entered the tournament riding a wave of confidence after capturing a Challenger title in Romania.
Filip Misolic, who had previously defeated Olle Wallin in the final round of qualifying, is ranked No. 105 in the world and has posted solid results on the ATP Tour. His résumé includes a quarterfinal appearance at the clay tournament in Bucharest and a runner-up finish in Kitzbühel in 2022. This is his second appearance in Båstad – he made a strong impression in 2023 by reaching the quarterfinals.
Elmer Møller, who recently made his ATP Tour debut at the Madrid Masters, is considered one of Denmark’s most promising players. He is the sixth Danish player ever to compete in the Swedish Open in Båstad, following in the footsteps of Holger Rune, Frederik Fetterlein, Michael Tauson, Jan Leschly, and Jørgen Ulrich.
The first set was evenly matched and somewhat cautious, with many points resulting from opponent errors. Elmer served well but didn’t have luck on his side, and Filip eventually claimed the set 6–3.
In the second set, Møller raised his level and showed greater focus, evening the match with a 6–3 win of his own. The deciding third set remained tight all the way to the finish, but Misolic proved more solid in the closing games, taking the set 7–5 – and the match by two sets to one.
With the victory, Filip Misolic advances to the second round, where he will face the third seed and defending champion, Nuno Borges.
